Biography and expertise

Biography

Zoe has been teaching English for over two decades. After an early career pivot from accounting, Zoe began her teaching career in Japan. She taught in several private colleges and university English language Centres in NSW and QLD across various courses, including General English, IELTS Prep, Cambridge Prep, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), Direct-entry and Post-entry English and Academic language (PEAL). Zoe also worked in teacher training from Cert IV to Masters level. Most recently, she has been involved in developing and delivering an innovative online transnational English for Specific Academic Purposes unit at Southern Cross University (SCU). Zoe has worked for many years as an IELTS Examiner at test centres in Sydney and Brisbane and has experience as an invigilator for OET.

Research

Zoe’s research interests include integrated assessment, academic literacies, international student belonging and online language education.

Community engagement

Zoe engages with peak bodies for teaching as a second language in Australia, including NEAS, English Australia and UECA (University English Centres Australia). Zoe has supervised TESOL student placements.

Teaching

Zoe manages English language programs across SCU campuses, including Direct-entry EAP, General English and Online English language units.
