Biography

Zac completed his undergraduate (2006), Honors (2007), and PhD (2013) at Southern Cross University and has been a lecturer at SCU since 2012.

Research

Zac is broadly interested in investigating the control and learning of motor skills in both functional and sporting contexts. His primary area of research is in neuromuscular control and adaptation with a focus on neuromuscular physiology and cross-education. He is also involved in research in the field of skill analysis and acquisition in sports.

Community engagement

Zac has previously been involved as a coach at Liverpool International Academy NSW (2017 - 2019), and is now maintaining this relationship through research projects, coach mentoring, and coach education.

Supervision

Zac currently is supervising projects in the following areas: Residual force enhancement in human skeletal muscle, neuromechanical analysis of functional skills e.g. ring dips, surfboard paddling etc., and talent identification in football.

Teaching

Zac currently teaches motor control and motor learning for coaching within the Sport and Exercise Science degree and has many years of experience teaching neuroscience and research and analysis in health.

Other

In addition to the above-mentioned research and teaching roles, Zac currently holds the positions of Course Coordinator Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science, Deputy Director of Higher Degrees Research in the School of Health and Human Science, and is a member of SCU's Human Research Ethics Committee.
