Biography

Dr Tristan Carter is an early career academic whose work integrates teaching, research, and research translation within high-performing collaborative teams to ensure pragmatic impactful outcomes underpinned by a commitment to fostering critical thinking, evidence synthesis, and real-world application of knowledge among students.

Research

In addition to teaching, Dr Carter works collaboratively with world-leading academics who focus on public health outcomes through the lens of Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine and Preconception health. Dr Carter’s research contributions include international project partnerships aligned with the World Health Organization (WHO) and lead authorship for several peer-reviewed journal publications in the preconception health field of research. In addition, Dr Carter and is co-author for numerous other articles, many published in high-ranking (Q1) journals. Dr Carter has presented research at numerous national and international forums ensuring that knowledge generated is accessible and meaningful to students, practitioners, and the broader public. Through the integration of teaching and research, Dr Carter aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives required to remain responsive to real-world interdisciplinary challenges.

Teaching

In the role of Teaching Associate, Dr Carter supports students to engage with research and evidence informed decision-making within clinical, community, and policy contexts and also promotes research capacity building and student mentorship through the supervision of research students and emerging researchers.
