Biography

Complexity Patterning for transformational education is work that attracted the Spirit of Sir Geoffrey Vickers Award from the International Systems Science Society in 2022.

Research

Shae's work explores the implementation and effects of using Complexity Patterning (patterns-based language and educational strategy), for the explicit teaching and learning complexity competence. This includes perception, sentience, understanding and relational knowledge of life's complex phenomena, towards subsequent action contributing to the health of all species. This work has been implemented with secondary students and diverse cohorts of university students, demonstrating its capacity to contribute to transformational education for the 21st century.

Teaching

Currently, Shae is working as a casual academic in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University.

Engagement

Developing curriculum for all stages of formal education is Shae's goal. In the meantime, Shae is presenting a poster at the Science of Consciousness on May 2023 in Sicily, publishing her work on teaching time as a complex phenomenon, and planning further implementation events.
