Biography
My professional journey spans high school science teaching, teacher professional learning, initial teacher education and PhD supervision. These experiences shape my passion for research that bridges educational theory and practice.
My research focuses on bridging educational theory and practice through sociological perspectives in education. My work began with curriculum policy enactment using Pierre Bourdieu’s social theory, particularly examining how teachers navigate institutional change.I extend Bourdieu’s concept of habitus by exploring transformative habitus as adaptable and capable of change.
My research also examined international students’ experiences across transnational educational fields in Australia and China. Through involvement in an ARC-Linkage project, my focus expanded into STEM education and inquiry-based learning, leading to collaborations with museums and schools to enhance student engagement with science.
Currently, my research explores identity, agency, and digital activism, with a broader aim of fostering equitable learning environments through interdisciplinary and practice-oriented educational research.
