Biography

Dr Lynda Hawryluk is a Senior Lecturer in Writing and Course Coordinator of Creative Writing programs at Southern Cross University. Lynda lectures in Writing units and supervises Honours, Masters and PhD students. An experienced writing workshop facilitator, Lynda has been published in both academic and creative publications.

Research

Lynda's creative work is in the area of landscape poetry, specifically about coastal areas and islands. Broadening out from this, Lynda's research also focuses on island communities and literature, Gothic coastlines and ecopoetry.

Community engagement

Lynda has presented workshops for community and writing groups in Queensland and Canada and been a featured guest at the Byron Writers Festival, Grassroots Writers Festival and Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival, among others. She is a past President / Chair of the Australasian Association of Writing Programs, and current Deputy Chair of the Byron Writers Festival board.

Supervision

Lynda has successfully supervised a number of PhD, Masters, Master of Letters and Honours students in their respective projects.
