Biography

Dr. Isabella Lippi is a veterinarian and postdoctoral researcher at Southern Cross University (SCU), Australia. Her academic and professional background is rooted in interdisciplinary and international experiences, encompassing animal welfare, beekeeping, molecular biology, toxicology, and sustainable agriculture. Dr. Lippi has a strong record of leading research projects, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and promoting science-based outreach and education initiatives.

Research

Dr. Lippi’s research integrates animal health, agricultural sustainability, and environmental toxicology. Her PhD focused on the transcriptomic effects of lethal and sublethal doses of imidacloprid on Africanised Apis mellifera, highlighting the molecular impact of pesticides on pollinators. She worked as an invited researcher at the University of Queensland (UQ). She has published scientific articles addressing topics like gene expression, pesticide toxicity, animal welfare, and sustainable livestock systems. Her research interests include molecular biology, ecotoxicology, honey bee and stingless bee health, animal welfare/behaviour and production, and the application of omics technologies in environmental assessments.

Teaching

Dr. Lippi has contributed to undergraduate teaching as a teaching assistant in several animal science and veterinary medicine courses in Brazil, including Apiculture, Animal Welfare, Swine and Chicken Farming. She has also led school-based environmental education programs, delivering lectures and interactive activities to raise awareness of pollinators and ecological sustainability among students and communities.

Alongside her academic career, Dr. Lippi has worked as a self-employed veterinarian, providing clinical services and animal health support in both household and farm environments. Her professional experience spans animal behaviour, surgical anatomy, intensive veterinary care, and the implementation of welfare-enhancing practices in pig farming.
