Biography

Dr Denise N. Rall is an adjunct fellow in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Southern Cross University, in Lismore, New South Wales and an adjunct lecturer in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of New England, Armidale, NSW, Australia. She holds a PhD in Internet Studies and an M.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Wisconsin.

Research

Her eclectic research interests include textiles, fashion and wearable art, and how technology and the Internet have changed women’s roles in computing, domestic work, craft, and social protest.

Her edited book, Fashion and War in Popular Culture was published by Intellect in 2014. In an upcoming volume, she examines the fraught narratives surrounding the clothing of women in political positions.

Other

Her textile artworks have been exhibited in regional NSW, at the Rocks in Sydney, at RMIT in Melbourne, and at the School of Fashion & Design, at Curtin University in Western Australia and in the United States.
