Biography

Clare Thorpe is an award-winning library leader, research-practitioner, and Non-Executive Board Director. Clare is the Director, Library Services at Southern Cross University. She has worked in academic and state libraries since 2001 using evidence-based practice and user experience methodologies to implement user centred innovations and digital library services.

Clare is a Distinguished Certified Practitioner of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and served on ALIA’s Board from 2020-2024. She was awarded ALIA’s Metcalfe Award (2006) and Queensland Library Achiever of the Year Award (2016). Clare was appointed as the Library Industry representative to the Commonwealth Government’s Public Lending Right Committee in 2024.
