Biography
Alec McKenzie is a dedicated researcher and educator who earned his PhD from Griffith University's School of Allied Health, Sport, & Social Work. His doctoral research, conducted in collaboration with the Queensland Academy of Sport and Swimming Australia, focused on preventing shoulder injuries in competitive swimmers by developing advanced ultrasound imaging protocols. Prior to his doctorate, Dr. McKenzie earned a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Clinical Science from Southern Cross University.
An award-winning academic, Dr. McKenzie has extensive teaching experience across anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics at several institutions, including Griffith University, Southern Cross University, and the University of Queensland. Recognised for his instructional excellence, he has received multiple commendations, including an Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) citation. His impactful research is published in leading Q1 academic journals, such as the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
Dr. McKenzie is an active biomechanist, consulting for VidSwim and having collaborated with elite sporting bodies, including Surfing Australia and Cricket Australia. He demonstrates a strong commitment to translating complex biomechanical research into practical, high-performance applications.
