Abstract
The key aspects and features of a demonstration project funded by the Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) of New South Wales (NSW) to investigate communication principles, practices and processes in four NSW hospitals in order to develop and deliver a well-informed education program in communication for NSW Health staff are discussed. Many hospitals have integrated programs that have successfully enhanced patient stays by adapting strategies related to the functional quality aspects of service used in the hospitality industry.
