Abstract
This article reports on the design and outcomes of a two-week international study tour to Singapore for 20 Australian undergraduate students studying a 1st year core subject. The
participants were selected from equity groups (FIF, LSES and LGBTI). The project was fully funded through a New Colombo Program (NCP) grant, which provided students with
accommodation, airfares, and all other travel expenses. The experiential study tour was designed with an educational and positive psychology agenda in mind. All 20 students
completed their unit with higher than average end grade results. Students report enhanced self-esteem, improved social courage, increased intercultural awareness, a desire to excel in study and careers; and improved personal and professional development. Their reflections testify to their personal and professional growth, their increased motivation for study and increased confidence in life. The findings highlight the positive possibilities of transformative learning though short term mobility programs for students.
