Abstract
Stormbirds is a small group psychosocial education program that provides an opportunity for children and young people who have experienced a natural disaster to examine the impact of this experience on their lives. Children and young people are supported by a trained adult Companion to share their experiences of change and loss in safe and creative ways, understand and attend to their feelings, and learn skills for adapting and recovering. Stormbirds is part of the Seasons for Growth suite of programs offered via MacKillop Family Services / the MacKillop Institute.
This is the Stormbirds Journal for participants following the Level 1 program (children aged 6-9 years). There is also a Stormbirds Level 2 program for young people aged 10-14 years. The colourful participant journals complement the Stormbird program sessions and support children and young people to record and recall their learning. The Stormbirds program must be delivered by trained facilitators (called Companions). Trained Companions can order journals for their groups via the Companion portal on the Good Grief website.
