Abstract

The paper introduces the notion of Gen-AI agnosticism as a deep philosophical argument as to how Gen-AI is fundamentally different to the traditional information systems. In an empirical validation using 327 individual responses of survey data, the study identifies that Gen-AI agnosticism leads to a high degree of expectation volatility, which in turn shapes users’ value perception. Our findings are drawn to better understand the future user patterns of Gen-AI driven systems, where task and user specificity is minimal or non-existent, disrupting the foundational management principles regarding work specialization, routinization, value creation, and performance measurement.
