Biography
Dr Miriam Wei Wei Lo is a mixed-race, mixed-place writer and educator. She was born in Canada, grew up in Singapore and is now based in Walyalup (Fremantle), Western Australia. She is a prize-winning poet whose creative writing has been published widely and included on school syllabuses both nationally and internationally. Her most recent accolades include the Westerly Mid-Career Writing Fellowship and the 2025 Tom Collins Poetry Prize. Her latest collection is Who Comes Calling? which was published by WA Poets Press in 2023. You can listen to her on ABC Radio National’s Soul Search program here.
Research
Her research interests include World War Two Chinese Diaspora Women’s Autograph Albums as well as the ways in which poetry can help process difficult experiences. She lectured in creative writing at Sheridan Institute in Perth from 2014-2025 and is now working sessionally for Southern Cross University as she pursues a Graduate Diploma in Education.
