Biography
Lisa is a registered midwife/nurse and lecturer with experience of teaching in both undergraduate and postgraduate study and 20 years of clinical experience working within various roles (Management/Clinical Midwifery Educator etc.) in all areas and settings (Tertiary/Rural/Remote).
Lisa's work contributes to the following UN Sustainable Development Goals
Research
Current HDR 'Maternity care practitioners experience of personal trauma during the birthing journey and the impact this has on their future care provision, decision making, and ongoing well-being'.
Interests in midwifery education and maternity care practitioners' mental well-being, with an interest in rural and remote maternity services.
Community engagement
An active member of the Australian College of Midwives (ACM) and serve on several committees including the editorial committee for 'Australian Midwifery News', contributing nationally to midwifery.
As a clinician, I have implemented policy and guideline change and review, to ensure the best evidence-based practice/care for women, and am an advocate for all women and their families to have access to and be empowered to, make informed decisions about their maternity care.
Supervision
Lisa's HDR supervisory team consists of Executive Dean Faculty of Health, Professor Julie Jomeen, and Doctor Elaine Jefford.
