Biography and expertise

Hoi Vo is a Vice-Chancellor senior research fellow in the Faculty of Education’s TeachLab research group at Southern Cross University. With background in educational assessment and testing, Hoi is interested in understanding and promoting student learning and motivation in the classroom through the use of innovative instructional strategies and technologies. Hoi is also passionate about effective models of teacher professional learning and school improvement initiatives that facilitate teacher learning and development and enhance students’ academic achievements. To tackle research issues that emerge from these areas of interest, Hoi has extensive experience in using quantitative research methods to analyse both cross-sectional and longitudinal datasets. These include structural equation modelling, Rasch modelling, multilevel modelling, latent growth curve modelling, latent profile analysis, and random intercept cross lagged panel analysis. In addition to publishing in top-tier education journals, Hoi also serves as an academic referee for multiple journals such as Computer & Education, British Journal of Educational Technology, Learning and Individual Differences, Asia Pacific Education Review, Language Teaching Research, System, and TESOL Quarterly.
