Biography

I am Professor of Information Technology within the Discipline of Information Technology, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Southern Cross University. Previously, I have been working in academia across multiple institutions, including Nanyang Technological University, Flinders University, and Australian Catholic University. Throughout my career, I have held leadership roles such as head of the discipline, research lab director, HDR discipline chairperson, and director of teaching programs. I have also served on several important university committees, including the academic board, the Vice Chancellor's HDR strategy advisory group, and the human research ethics committee. I am a Senior Member of both the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), reflecting sustained recognition of my scholarly excellence and professional standing.

Research

I am an internationally recognised researcher at the forefront of intelligent and secure software engineering, with a distinctive interdisciplinary programme spanning software engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and human-centred computing. My specific interests include AI techniques, especially large language models and agentic AI, for software engineering; software security and reliability, such as software vulnerability prediction and root cause analysis; DevOps and DevSecOps; human-AI interaction, such as explainable AI, human in the loop, human-AI teaming; and human-centred computing, such as user-centred interaction design, UI/UX, collaborative computing, and affective computing. My research has been published in the most prestigious and selective venues in the field, including TSE, TOSEM, ICSE, ASE, ICDE, TOCHI, CHI, and CSCW.

Teaching

I am an experienced curriculum designer and program director. I have extensive experience leading professional accreditation of IT programs by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), including new accreditation awards and renewals. My extensive teaching experience spans all undergraduate and postgraduate/PhD levels, covering a wide range of computer science and information technology subjects through various delivery models, including face-to-face lectures/tutorials/labs and labs, as well as synchronous and asynchronous online classes/modules.
