Biography

Dr Donna Mathewson Mitchell is Associate Professor (Visual Arts Education) at Southern Cross University. Her research investigates teaching practice, learning in informal settings, and arts-informed methodologies, with a particular focus on how creative and visual approaches can deepen understanding of educational experiences and inspire lifelong learning. Drawing on her background as a secondary teacher and teacher educator, her work explores the intersections of pedagogy, creativity, and professional learning across diverse educational contexts. She has held academic and leadership positions at Charles Sturt University and Australian Catholic University and completed her PhD at UNSW in 2007.
