Biography

I am an accomplished educational leader recognised for innovation in professional learning for teachers and school leaders, implementing learning focused school structures, school improvement and pedagogical reform. I have held leadership positions in schools in a range of rural and urban contexts that have been recognised for their excellence through regional and state awards. I have also contributed to education system level initiatives including curriculum reform.

My previous university experience includes working as Program Coordinator, Head of Campus and Head of School in a multi-campus teacher education program and developing meaningful partnerships between schools and the university.

The Teaching School Model as a means for addressing the knowing-doing gap. The thesis explored an alternative model to the ‘practicum’ in teacher education and its capacity to address the knowing-doing gap. Data was obtained from university and school staff using a survey and focus group sessions. Findings from the research can be applied to develop strategies to improve teacher education programs.
