Work-integrated learning (WIL) is a growing pedagogical approach across university programs, an umbrella term used to represent various educational experiences that integrate classroom learnings with work-related activities.
Common examples include industry-based placements, simulations, and project-based learning. However, WIL presents numerous challenges and complexities, such as student preparation, supervisor and student support, sustainability issues, stakeholder engagement and an assurance of a quality WIL experience for all students.
This workshop will present on the quality assurance framework used, key learnings, and opportunities for translation to other programs and faculties to assure quality WIL experiences for all students. It will also discuss the creation and expansion potential of a WIL Community of Practice, comprised of all WIL academic coordinators and related staff, who regularly meet to share practice, resolve issues, and improve WIL faculty-wide.
