Abstract
This report provides a ‘state of play’ snapshot of educational screen use in NSW public schools, drawing on in-person observations in 68 classrooms, totalling 57 hours of lesson time, across Stages 1–6 and a broad spread of Key Learning Areas (KLAs). Observations featuring a combination of contextual field notes and planned learning activity checking (PLA-check) with sampling at five-minute intervals documenting how teachers and students used digital technologies and the extent of student engagement with learning tasks.
