Abstract

Organ donation registration Organ Donation LGBTQ*+ Social psychology Community health care
A collaborative research project between ACON, NSW Organ and Tissue Donation Service and Southern Cross University investigated the knowledge, beliefs, and attitudes held by LGBTQ+ communities in NSW towards organ and tissue donation, and registration. The responses were captured in an anonymous online survey distributed by ACON through social media and known contacts in November, 2020. In addition, to asking participants about their beliefs, attitudes and experiences of organ donation and registration, the survey provided information about organ and tissue donation relevant to LGBTQ+ communities, and a link for participants to register on the Australian Organ Donor Register, if they wished.
