Abstract
Dr Gabriel Fernandes discusses a contemporary understanding of plantarflexor deficits in runners with Achilles tendinopathy. He highlights the contribution of the central nervous system to persistent impairments and synthesises evidence of reduced neural drive and force contribution from gastrocnemius lateralis, while challenging the traditional view that soleus dysfunction is the primary deficit.
