Ūpoko tūtakitaki
Angus Macfarlane was a man whose wisdom, kindness, and dedication to education have left an indelible mark on Aotearoa New Zealand. He was a loving
husband, father, uncle, koro, friend and colleague. Angus was a gentleman; he always acknowledged people, and chose to be respectful in contexts where many would not. He sought out ways to fold people, particularly early-career scholars, into his research projects in ways that were uplifting and full of mana. Angus was an astute and well-respected researcher, and an inclusive, funny and motivating teacher. He was one of the foremost Māori academics of our time.
