Abstract
2000s, with Industry 4.0 and digital innovations like autonomous vessels, smart technology, and eco-friendly practices. These changes have enhanced operations but introduced new challenges, notably technostress among seafarers. Technostress arises from difficulties in adapting to and using new technology, adding to traditional stressors such as long periods away from home and social isolation. Maritime companies are restructuring operations, implementing advanced technologies, and training staff to adapt, though technostress poses risks to safety and well-being at sea. This study addresses a gap in the literature by examining how seafarers manage technostress and provides recommendations for stakeholders to mitigate its effects. The research uses a review-based approach to analyze existing studies, seeking theoretical and practical insights into reducing technostress. The increasing reliance on technology in the maritime sector impacts crew welfare and ship management, highlighting the need for crew management teams and industry stakeholders to adopt supportive policies. Reducing technostress requires policies that balance workloads, minimize negative technology impacts, and foster a healthy work environment, ultimately safeguarding mental health and operational safety within the maritime sector.
