The article focuses on the historical and political significance of Métis and métissage in British Columbia. The authors are addressing the issue on the less significance of Métis than the contemporary significance of historical processes of métissage for people in the city. It explores how Métis originated and their struggle to understand their place in the Canadian Constitution. It explores the first person recorded as Métis named Jean Baptiste Boucher.
