The single national registration and accreditation scheme for health professionals to commence on 1 July 2010 will commence by registering the nine professions that currently have registration in every State. Seven more professions partially regulated will be the next group considered for national registration. This includes traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioners, registered in Victoria since 2000 after an evaluation of TCM against the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council (AHMAC) criteria for the regulation of unregulated professions.1
