The article presents an analysis on displacement and vaporization losses in oil storage tanks. Displacement loss is the result of evaporation during filling operations which increases liquid level and pressure in the tank allowing vapors to escape while heat gained by the storage tank causes loss through vaporization. A table that correlates filling losses from storage tanks in percent of liquid pumped in is presented.
