Abstract
At the start of semester one 2021, I had the opportunity to take my second year pre-service teacher education students, studying English, literacy and language, to the 'Miffy' exhibition on display at the QUT art gallery. For readers unfamiliar with the 'Miffy' children's books, Dick Bruna created this little white rabbit character in 1955 that has featured in over 30 books worldwide and translated into many languages. The name 'Miffy' was derived from the Dutch word konijntje which means little bunny. Bruna wrote and illustrated 124 picture books over a career spanning 60 years, with the last 'Miffy' book released in 2011 (Hillel, 2020; mercisbv, 2021). A 'Miffy' museum is located in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
