This study investigates the sectoral flows of Japanese foreign direct investment (EDI) in Thailand since 1960 by analyzing International Joint Venture (IJV) formation in Thailand by industry by equity participation of the Japanese partner and by the timing of IJV formation in Thailand by Japanese firms. The IJV being one of the principle forms of FDL The fin dings indicate that the industries of Metal-Working, Electronics, Agriculture and Chemical Industries were the major recipients of IJV formation in Thailand by Japanese firms. Furthermore, the period of 1986 to 1990 was identified as the period with the strongest growth of IJV formation and FDI in Thailand by Japanese firms.
