It's the quest which matters

Mudrooroo was born at Narogin in 1938. In 1965 he published his classic novel, Wildcat Falling and has since published Doin' Wild Cat (1988) and Wildcat Screaming (1992). Mudrooroo has travelled widely in Asia where he spent three years as a Buddhist monk. Active in Aboriginal cultural affairs, Mudrooroo has piloted Aboriginal literature courses at several universities including Murdoch where he currently teaches. As well as the Wildcat trilogy, Mudrooroo has written Long Live Sandawarra (1979), Doctor Wooreddy's Prescription for Enduring the End of the World (1983), Masters of the Ghost Dreaming (1991) and The Kwinkan (1993). A prizewinning poet he has written The Song Circle ofjacky and Selected Poems (1986) and The Garden of Gethsemane (1991). His seminal study of modern Aboriginal literature, Writing from the Fringe, was published in 1989. Mudrooroo was interviewed at Murdoch University in July 1992 by Adam Shoemaker, whose critical study of Mudrooroo will be released by Angus & Robertson in June.
