In 2009, staff at Southern Cross University redeveloped a first-year university media producation unit to cater for both on-campus and long-distance students, as part of a broader aim of making external enrolment accessible across all areas of study. Lisa Milner and Grayson Cooke report on the successes and drawbacks of the endeavour, and reflect on what they signify for geographically dispersed media education.
