Abstract
Young children’s creativity, thinking, and language development shine through their drawings and early writing. This is particularly
true when children collaboratively draw and make other marks. As they discuss and share their creations and stories with each other, they create a “drawing space” that facilitates creativity and promotes early literacy and language skills (Tassoni & Hooker 2000; Coates & Coates 2006). They exchange viewpoints, talk about their social and cultural contexts, learn how to discuss and solve problems, and navigate relationships (Shugar 1988; Dyson 1993).
