Current status and research perspectives of wetland ecosystem in the Danjiangkou Reservoir Region

The Danjiangkou Reservoir is the water source area of the Middle-Route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project in China.Since wetlands perform important functions by controlling flood,improving water quality and conserving biodiversity,wetlands protection in the Danjiangkou Reservoir Region is essential for the water transfer project.According to previous studies,we presented main wetland types in the reservoir region,and analyzed their ecological characteristics and functions.After summarizing the current status of wetlands protection in the Danjiangkou Reservoir,this paper presented management and research strategies for the purpose of protecting the reservoir ecosystem and the water transfer project.
