Abstract
Over recent years, autism prevalence has increased in most countries around the world with numerous factors likely involved. It is estimated that approximately 1 in 70 Australians are Autistic, with prevalence rates continuing to rise. Notably, the prevalence of autism in adults May be underestimated due to diagnostic challenges, masking behaviours, and the evolving conceptualisation of autism across the lifespan. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurotype difference characterised by a cluster of early-onset traits, differing in severity and intensity. These include persistent differences and challenges in social communication, sensory processing differences, repetitive patterns of behaviour, and restricted or intensive interests
