In Australia, levels of engagement within families and students in Catholic schools with religious practice and understanding of Catholic spirituality are in decline. Making use of narrative inquiry, the views of seven students were sought on the influence of the family and Catholic school in fostering their religious and spiritual lives over time. Four areas for renewing families and Catholic schools as structures of plausibility are posited.
