Abstract
Research, evidence based-practice (EBP), and the role of journals are inextricably linked. EBP refers to“the integration of evidence gleaned from the best available external research evidence, the perspectives and values of clients, clinical expertise and the external context” (The Speech Pathology Association of Australia Limited, 2021, p. 5). Research fuels EBP by providing the scientific evidence that informs clinical decision-making, with journals like the International Journal of Speech Language Pathology (IJSLP) serving as a key platform for disseminating this research. Kurt Lewin’s famous 1946 quote, “No research with-out action, no action without research”, accents the cyclical and interdependent nature of research and action, highlighting that research needs to be grounded in real-world situations and practical application, and actions cannot be just intuition nor guess-work. This how we build on our evidence base.
