Abstract
The taxonomy of the Australian Aplysiidae requires a thorough revision. In this study, molecular, morphological and other ecological data were used to develop an integrative solution. A review of known Australian sea hare species and their attendant taxonomic problems is provided and a molecular phylogenetic reconstruction using three markers is developed. Each species relationship is explored in a systematic framework. Several nomenclatural changes are suggested and three species are treated in detail resulting in the formal description of Bursatella hirsuta sp. nov. and redescriptions of Phyllaplysia viridis (Bergh, 1905) and Aplysia concava G. B. Sowerby I, 1833.
