Abstract
Globalisation and international business developments are creating markedly new operating environments for chief executive officers (CEOs), generating challenges and opportunities for CEOs in the Western Europe and Middle-East aviation sectors. The purpose of this qualitative, exploratory research is to present the critical success factors of hard-side leadership for CEOs in the Western European and Middle-Eastern aviation sectors. The findings make important contributions to theory and practice of multinational corporation leadership for CEOs in the aviation industry, as well as leaders in various international industries. The contributions to the future development of aviation industry policy and regulatory procedures are outlined and a platform is provided for further research.
