Abstract

Streptomyces Metabolites
Four modified strains of Streptomyces rimosus were fermented at laboratory scale and the major secondary metabolites produced were isolated and identified. Three of the four strains were mutants in which the oxytetracycline (OTC) pathway had been variously blocked (S. rimosus RI 059, RI 054 and R886) and the fourth (S. rimosus M 15883 S/pPFZ43) had been genetically transformed with a plasmid.
