Abstract
Pelagic and benthic metabolism were compared amongst three proximal shallow estuaries of similar size in sub-tropical northern New South Wales, Australia. The Brunswick and Simpsons estuaries are affected by diffuse and point source anthropogenic nutrient inputs which result in algal blooms in the water column, whilst the Sandon estuary is relatively pristine.
