Abstract
Young people competing in sport require many opportunities to prepare to excel as a senior athlete. Development strategies for physical preparation across the sporting pathway include acquiring and advancing competency across a range of foundational athletic movements. Novel and effective delivery of such strategies need further exploration, to enable a greater understanding of holistic training methods. The overarching aims of this thesis were to address the questions of best practice assessment strategies of youth athlete movement competencies (MC), and explore methods to provide training support to develop and improve MC.
