Abstract
Geopolymer concrete has emerged as an innovative construction material, which utilises industrial byproducts such as rice husk ash, fly ash, ultrafine slag, corn cob ash and copper slag as supplementary cementitious materials to replace the Portland pozzolona cement in concrete. Geopolymers are produced by activating aluminosilicate-based materials with alkaline activator liquid. This study focuses on the utilisation of such mineral admixtures. Naphthalene-based and polycarboxylate ether superplasticisers were used as chemical admixtures. GPCs were developed using RHA, UFS and FA. It can be concluded that an ecofriendly GPC with satisfactory performance and durability can be produced using these byproducts.
