Abstract
The childcare industry in Singapore has undergone rapid growth in recent years and retention of childcare teachers has become a workforce and human resource management issue. This mixed method research study focuses on current, qualified childcare teachers, their experiences in their childcare jobs and their intention to continue to work in the childcare sector in Singapore. In summary, it was found that significant factors such as employee remuneration, organisation support, employee work schedule, employee workload and work demand influence childcare teachers retention in the Singaporean early childhood industry.
