Abstract
This thesis focuses on the motivations driving hedonic consumption at dance parties and the meanings behind this consumption. In doing so the research draws on the consumer behaviour literature and the leisure literature, specifically the literature relating to consumer motivation and meaning. It seeks to identify and explore the reasons for dance party consumption. Its focus on experiential leisure consumption draws on the limited existing literature on playful hedonic consumption activities.
