Based on a study of the use of the EDUWEBTV streaming video system in Malaysian schools this paper suggests some strategies for developing more student-centred pedagogies. The review of the system recommended more activity-based learning and the sharing of learning designs between teachers. At the same time an intervention has been designed to develop Malaysian pre-service teachers’ learning technology design capabilities so that they engage more collaborative and interactive learning. Exemplars that the students produced and their perceptions of the design experience evidence their paradigm shift towards more student-centred, collaborative and constructive pedagogies.
