Abstract

This study examines how Queensland primary school teachers select mathematics curriculum resources for specific mathematical content. Through semi-structured interviews with eight primary teachers, we explored resource choices across primary mathematics curriculum. Teacher confidence emerged as the most significant mediating factor, shaped by three patterns: prior success with familiar resources, avoidance of resources teachers felt unable to use authentically, and conservative choices among teachers working alone at a year level. These findings highlight confidence as a key affective factor in primary mathematics teachers’ resource practice.
