This paper documents the development and evolution of the Bachelor of Business in Club Management offered at Southern Cross University as it attempts to meet the dynamic needs of the registered and licenced clubs industry. The experience has emphasised that industry specific education is important and can be a precipitating factor developing and maintaining workplace change. The results provide insights which can assist in the better management of vocational hospitality programs designed for practicing managers. The most positive and least useful course aspects are relayed. The paper concludes that vocational degrees in club management make an important contribution to improving management standards in clubs and are essential to facilitate strategic change in an increasingly competitive environment.
