Abstract
mHealth (mobile health) is critical in accessing healthcare services in a resource-constrained environment in most developing countries like Bangladesh. Recently, several mHealth initiatives have been introduced in Bangladesh; however, the adoption rate is very low, especially among older people. This paper aimed to extend the well-established technology acceptance model, UTAUT2, with additional factors: Trust and Service Quality, to investigate the mHealth adoption issue by older people in Bangladesh. The study tested data collected from 300 older people aged 60 and above, using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique based on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings of the study show that all base constructs except the Price Value and Social Influence of the UTUAT2 had positive impact on the older people's intention to use mHealth services. Besides, Service Quality and Trust are strong predictors of older people's intention to use mHealth services. The findings have significant theoretical implications for mHealth adoption study and offer valuable insights for the effective roll out of mHealth services in developing countries like Bangladesh.
